Kinnar Power graduated from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2021. Prior to attending law school, Kinnar obtained his Master of Arts in Political Science from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta, Campus Saint-Jean.
While in law school, Kinnar worked as a research assistant dealing with various legal issues including family law, constitutional law, animal law, and prison law. He volunteered with East Coast Prison Justice Society, carrying out legal research related to the constitutional rights of incarcerated persons. He was also involved with the Student Animal Law Association of Dalhousie, where he helped organize advocacy initiatives relating to various bills before Parliament.
In his final year of law school, Kinnar volunteered in Family Docket Court with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta. In this role, he assisted duty counsel with client intake and assisted self-represented litigants in navigating in the court process.
Kinnar is fluent in French, and looks forward to assisting clients in both of Canada’s official languages. In his spare time, Kinnar enjoys playing guitar and piano, going for walks in Edmonton’s river valley, and spending time with his fiancée and their two animal companions.
